Sortly – Smart File Sorter for Windows

What It Does: Sortly is a customizable file sorting tool for Windows that automatically organizes files into folders based on file type, date, or music type. It’s ideal for cleaning up cluttered download folders or workspaces in just a couple of clicks.

Main Features:

• Custom Sorting Rules:
  • Set folder names and subfolder rules per file extension (e.g., PDFs → "PDFs" folder, MP3s → "Audio/MusicType").
  • Save, load, create, and delete multiple configuration profiles.
• One-Click Sorting:
  • Automatically moves files based on your custom rules.
  • Optional subfolder sorting by Year or Music Type (Pop, Rock, Jazz, etc.).
• Undo Button:
  • Reverts the last sort operation completely.
  • Restores all moved files back to their original locations.
• Handling Existing Folders:
  • Options to:
    • Leave pre-existing folders as they are
    • Sort contents of existing folders
    • Move existing folders to an archive folder automatically
• Modern, Dark-Mode GUI:
  • Built with PyQt5

How It Works

1. Select the folder you want to sort.
2. Set your sorting rules (or use the default ones).
3. Click Sort Files — done in seconds.
4. Click Undo Last Sort if you change your mind.
